Featuring various exhibits throughout the season. Hours: Tuesday 10:00 am  – 6:00 pm Wednesday 10:00 am  – 8:00 pm Thursday 10:00 am  – 6:00 pm Friday 10:00 am – 6:00 pm  Saturday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm Sundays & Mondays Closed 

Location: Rink @ Pioneer Park, Corner of Gibbon Avenue & Dunraven Street
Fee: FREE – You will need to provide your own skates and sleds.

Location: Pick up your clues at the KNS Headquarters – West Yellowstone Visitor Center (30 Yellowstone Avenue).  
Venture around town to find the hidden treasures. Take pictures of what you find and show them to the coordinator at KNS Headquarters for your prize!

Ice Camp is a popular industry-leading education program that is open to the public and free of charge.
There will be two locations for different parts of the Camp: 

Friday night, February 9th from 5:00pm – 6:00pm – Classroom instruction and demonstration of ice fishing equipment and techniques as well as safety, conservation and environmental stewardship. Meet at Kids’N’Snow Headquarters, The West Yellowstone Visitor Information Center, 30 Yellowstone Avenue.

Saturday, February 10th from 9:00am – Noon – Registered kids will head out onto the ice from the The Yellowstone Holiday on Hebgen Lake for fishing tutorials delivered by experienced, instructors. Make sure to dress warmly, including waterproof footwear for this outside event.

Please be there 15 minutes prior to departure. Meet at Kids’N’Snow Headquarters, The West Yellowstone Visitor Information Center, 30 Yellowstone Avenue.

Children should be accompanied by an adult (limit 1 adult per family – seats are limited and this event is all about the kids.)  

NO charge for the snowcoach ride, but a Yellowstone Park Pass is REQUIRED. Gratuity for the snowcoach guide is appreciated. 

Everyone over the age of 15 needs a Park Pass. Individual day passes are $15 per person and can be purchased at the YNP desk at the Visitor Center (30 Yellowstone Avenue) or at a snowcoach provider ahead of time: See Yellowstone Alpen Guides, Yellowstone Vacations or Backcountry Adventures. If you already have an Annual, National Park, Lifetime or Senior Pass, passes admit the signer and up to three additional persons (16 and older) for a total of four people.

Location: Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center – 201 South Canyon Street 
Fee: Program FREE with Admission (See Below for Special Admission Coupons)

The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center welcomes families with kids to join us for crafts and fun wildlife activities throughout the day, with scheduled programs about bears, wolves, and birds.

Wolf Pack Chat – Join us at 10:30 AM or 1:30 PM for a chat with a naturalist to see active wolves and learn about the wolves living at the GWDC as well as their counterparts in the wild.

Other activities – From 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM, kids (of all ages) can participate in activities and crafts throughout the GWDC that encourage a connection to wildlife in the winter.

 

Special admission: Kids N Snow coupons, available at the Chamber of Commerce, allows free admission for kids 12 and under, and half-priced admission for accompanying adults.

Owl Pellets – Dissect a real owl pellet and discover what we can learn about wild birds. Join a naturalist at 3:15 to learn about owls and other birds of prey.

Wouldn’t you love to learn a new winter sport? Children will learn basic skills from a local ski instructor that encourages them to try cross country and even downhill skiing. Children already skiing are welcome to attend to improve their skills and practice.

Location: Meet at the Kids N Snow Headquarters – Training will take place at the Yellowstone Nature Connection building in the same parking lot.

Stop by anytime for a 15-20 minute scavenger hunt. Learn about avalanches while hunting in the snow on a scavenger hunt – for even more fun wear snowshoes!  Snowshoes provided. Children of all ages welcome. Come dressed for outdoor conditions.

Horse-Drawn Sleigh Ride Sampler
Location: 
Meet at the staging area in the KNS Headquarters parking lot at the VIC (30 Yellowstone Avenue).
Fee: FREE

Children will meet the horses and enjoy a short horse-drawn sleigh ride, compliments of Parade Rest Guest Ranch. Ages 12 and under, must be accompanied by an adult.

Fee: $5.00 Donation for Program + Admission (See Below for Special Admission Coupons)

Help hide food for the bears! Join a naturalist to learn about bears and the important role animal keepers have in their care. Then go into the bear habitat, while it has no bears, and hide food for grizzlies. This program is an additional $5 to participate, and available to kids ages 5-12.  Participants must be signed up before 2:20 PM.  Limited space.  This program starts at 2:50 PM.  Allow approximately 45 minutes. Dress to be outdoors! This is a guided program.

Break out your creativity and create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece on the snowy white canvas. Children of all ages welcome. Come dressed for outdoor conditions. Kids will be given a spray bottle of water that is tinted with food coloring to decorate a snow wall.

Location: Meet at the playground in Pioneer Park.

Kids from 6-11 years old can try out a child-sized Arctic Cat/Yamaha M120 snowmobile setup for a slow, safe ride. All children must be accompanied by an adult and the adult must sign a Release of Liability. Recommend snow boots and gloves. Helmets provided.

Old-fashioned family fun for everyone of every age. Warm-up with hot beverages, toast some marshmallows, and make your own S’more. All the fixings provided. Bring your own sled for our Kid’s Sledding Hill. Or, try out West Yellowstone’s ice rink with your own skates.
