West Yellowstone Rodeo Run Sled Dog Races (Teams leave at 2 minute intervals)

The yips of eager dogs will pierce the winter mornings as mushers prepare for the return of Sled Dog Races to West Yellowstone. Paws will pound as sleds and mushers head off down the trail. Come early at 8:30 am before the races start to watch the mushers get their teams harnessed and ready to start. All races start and finish at the Old Airport just west of Iris Street. Spectators welcome!

*One registration is required per person.

Snowshoe Walk/Hike with NPS Ranger

Recommended for kids ages 4 and older. Participants will enjoy an educational hike into Yellowstone National Park along the Riverside Trail. Outing will last 1 hour.

For more information, please call 307-344-2876. Allow 1-1.5 hours for the program. A limited number of snowshoes are available free of charge from the Visitor Center (First Come, First Served) or others can be rented at Freeheel & Wheel. Feel free to bring your own snowshoes as well. Not recommended for small children.

M120 Kids Snowmobile Rides

Pioneer Park at the corner of Gibbon Avenue & Dunraven Street

Kids from 6-11 years old can try out a child-sized Arctic Cat/Yamaha M120 Snowmobile setup for a slow, safe ride. All children must be accompanied by an adult and the adult must sign a Release of Liability. Recommend snow boots and gloves. Helmets provided.

Sled Dog Rides

Children will meet a sled dog team and enjoy a short ride through the woods. Ages 12 and under.

Help hide food for the bears! Join a naturalist to learn about bears and the important role animal keepers have in their care. Then go into the bear habitat, while it has no bears, and hide food for grizzlies. This program is for kids aged 5-12. 

To participate, you must sign-up in person at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center at least 15 minutes before the program starts. There is a $5 donation per child for participating in Keeper Kids. Dress to be outdoors! This is a guided program. The KIDS ‘N’ SNOW Headquarters desk has stickers showing participation (West Yellowstone Visitor Center – 30 Yellowstone Avenue).

Old-fashioned family fun for everyone of every age. Warm-up with hot beverages, toast some marshmallows, and make your own S’more. All the fixings provided. Bring your own sled for our Kid’s Sledding Hill. Or, try out West Yellowstone’s ice rink. Skates available. 

*A limited number of ice skates will be available at the rink that night for FREE use. Please come early for the best selection. Additional skates and blade sharpening available at Westmart (100 S Faithful Street – CLOSED Sundays)
